April 29, 2017

Kathmandu, April 29: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has stated that the election is inevitable for strengthening federal democratic republican system in the country.
At a press meet organized by NC’s central publicity coordination committee at the NC’s central office at Sanepa in the capital city today, leader Deuba asserted, “NC will shoulder the responsibility of implementing the new constitution that was promulgated during its leadership.”
Deuba, also the former Prime Minister, expressed his confidence that the CPN-UML, the major opposition, would also cooperate in the constitution amendment process.
He is also confident that the NC will get thumping majority in the upcoming local level election as in the second constituent assembly election in 2013. Responding to the queries of the media persons on the new government to be led by NC, Deuba replied, “Everything will be based on the consensus.”
On the occasion, senior leader Ramchandra Poudel argued that the NC should win with a majority so as to ensure rural development by taking on board the Dalits, indigenous, Muslims and marginalized communities.
Poudel further claimed that it is the NC that could usher the country in the path of prosperity as it has already led many groundbreaking political movements from the 2007 BS to 2046 BS to people’s movement in 2062/63.
He spoke of the need to hold the election by bringing on board the dissenting Madhes-centric political parties.
Similarly, Committee’s Coordinator and NC central committee member and Minister for Physical and Transportation Ramesh Lekhak said that the NC, as the largest party in the parliament, was taking the lead to ensure that all the political parties come on board and contest in the upcoming poll.
Health Minister Gagan Kumar Thapa, hitting out at the UML, remarked that the UML’s stance of country’s self-pride, was creating problems to hold election.
He also clarified that the provincial boundaries could be delineated but when it comes to the boundary of county, there will not be any compromise.
The Minister said that the upcoming election was crucial to empower people at local level and pressed for flexibility from all the political parties to address the political impasse. RSS
