Nepathya to perform in Hong Kong

Come 12th of March, Nepathya is to perform in Hong Kong, a city that has hosted Nepathya more than any other outside Nepal. Hong Kong has a special place in Nepathya’s memory. Many of Nepathya’s contemporary friends including its founder member Bhim Poon lives in Hongkong. Among others, musician Vikram Gurung has also been living in Hong Kong for decades. He along with Bhim will be in audience during the show which will also perform Vikram Gurung’s composition ‘Kuroop Anuhaar.’

This song was performed for the first time in Nepal during Nepathya’s recent Tundikhel concert, where lyrists Sarubhakta witnessed the performance. This time the composer will witness the performance for the first time. During his initial days, Gurung was known for his creations ‘Ankhako Nid’ and ‘Bhulu Bhulu Lagyo Malai’…… both sung to fame by late Arun Thapa.

 This song was prepared about 35 years ago when Vikram Gururng and Saru Bhakta were student at Tribhuwan University, Kirtipur. Gurung now works as a teacher in Hong Kong and Poet Sarubhakta is currently the Chancellor of Nepal Academy of Music and Drama.  

“I have had long acquaintance with Vikram dai, I am glad we now have a musical connection with him.” Said Nepathya front man, Amrit Gurung. “I look forward to performing his song in his presence.” He added.As per Amrit, Hong Kong show has always been a bit more than just a show. It also becomes a reunion of friends and well-wishers.  

 The show is being organized by Hong Kong based Tamu Association. The band is scheduled to leave Kathmandu on 9th March for their show at the Yuen Long Theater on 12thMarch.

The band will perform a solo concert which will last for approximately two hours and will include their hits along with recent releases.

 Amrit will be accompanied by Dhruba Lama on drums, Suraj Thapa on keyboards, Subin Shakya on bass, Niraj Gurung on guitars and Shanti Rayamajhi on drums
