But if you’re unsure where to while away your next layover, help is at hand, because over 60,000 members of a lounge access club have rated the best airport lounges in each global region – and it’s the Plaza Premium Lounge at London Heathrow, Terminal 2, that’s been crowned the world’s best.

The accolade was awarded by independent lounge membership programme Priority Pass for its Global Airport Lounge of the Year Awards 2016.

Members have access to over 1,000 lounges in more than 500 cities worldwide and rated the top lounge for each region, as well as the best for quality of refreshments, best for attitude and service from staff and best for business facilities.

Savvy fliers passing through Heathrow’s Terminal 2 have a chance to experience not only the best airport lounge in Europe but also the global champion, according to Priority Pass members – the Plaza Premium Lounge.

The 87,000sq-foot space located in the UK’s busiest airport has a contemporary design celebrating British culture with a Union Jack flag as a signature feature.

Passengers can unwind in a private bedroom or use the shower rooms and wellness spa.

And if you’re hungry en route, you won’t be disappointed as the Champagne and tapas bar inside also won the global accolade for the best quality of refreshments category in the awards.
