Constitution amendment proposal incomplete-Dr Bhattarai

Kapilvastu, Dec 5: Naya Shakti Party (NSP) Nepal Coordinator Dr Baburam Bhattarai has claimed that the constitution amendment motion recently tabled by the government before the parliament is incomplete. Addressing a political training and party entry programme organized by NSN's Interim District Council here on Monday, Coordinator Bhattarai said they have made their stance clear on demarcating two provinces in Terai on five bases of identity and four bases of capability. Dr Bhattarai further spoke of the importance of constitution amendment for safeguarding and implementing the constitution. NSN Province Number 5 Coordinator Surendra Chaudhary hinted about the possible collapse of achievements of the past movements if serious efforts are not made regarding the implementation of the constitution -- albeit incomplete. On the occasion, leaders and cadres of different parties including Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (Loktantrik) Vice-Chairperson Dan Bahadur Chaudhary defected to NSN Party. RSS

UML to intensify agitation against constitution amendment

Bhaktapur, Dec 5: The CPN-UML has decided to intensify the ongoing agitation against the constitution amendment bill registered by the government at the Legislature-Parliament. The standing committee meeting of the party held at Chairman KP Sharma Oli's residence, Balkot, reiterated the importance of taking the agitation nationwide, said party Vice-Chairman Bam Dev Gautam. Informing media about the meeting, UML Spokesperson Yogesh Bhattarai said the protest against government's plan to amend the constitution would be widened across the country, taking the agitations to all seven provinces. According to him, the date for the massive demonstrations in the provinces would be fixed later. Government's atrocity against protest would be debunked, he added, condemning the vandalism at party offices and at leaders' residence and interference in the programmes in different districts. The party condemned the views from some persons in the government which are against social and communal harmony and hill-Madhes comity.
